SUMMARY:CFU 5K: Strides for Scholarship and Hope
DESCRIPTION:Every Step Makes a Difference at the Inaugural CFU 5K\nThe inaugural CFU 5K: Strides for Scholarships & Hope will bring CFU members\, families and friends together on Sunday\, October 11\, at the North Park Boathouse in Allison Park\, Pennsylvania\, for a day centered on fitness\, fellowship and giving. \nParticipants can choose the traditional 5K\, a 3.1-mile course open to runners and walkers\, or the one-mile Fun Run/Walk. The shorter event is perfect for anyone who may not feel ready to complete the full 5K—and it is a great option for children and families who want to participate together. You do not need to be an experienced runner to be part of this special day! \nFor CFU members who live outside the Pittsburgh area\, the Virtual 5K offers an opportunity to participate from anywhere. Virtual participants can complete their miles in their own neighborhoods while supporting the same important causes and joining fellow CFU members across the country and beyond. \nLive music will add to the excitement both before and after the race. Once participants cross the finish line\, they can spend time with friends and fellow members and join us for a special celebratory toast for adults. More than simply a race\, the CFU 5K will be a wonderful opportunity for our local Croatian community to come together and celebrate what can be accomplished when we work toward a common goal. \nMost importantly\, the event is already making a meaningful difference. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and donors\, we have collected $12\,750 for the CFU Scholarship Foundation and the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Zabok\, Croatia. That remarkable total comes before the additional support generated through participant registrations and personal donations. All proceeds from the event will benefit these two worthy causes\, helping students pursue their educational goals and supporting vital health care in Croatia. \nWe extend our sincere thanks to every business\, CFU lodge\, family and individual who has contributed.
