SUMMARY:CFU's 125th Anniversary Celebration Boat Cruise & Gala Banquet
DESCRIPTION:CFU to Celebrate 125th Anniversary Year in 2019 \nThis is a very special year in our society’s history as we also celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the founding of the National Croatian Society\, the forerunner of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America. \nIn support of our mission of preserving Croatian Culture\, our society maintains a beautiful home office facility filled with cultural artifacts\, authentic national costumes\, naïve art by some of the finest masters of Croatia and bronze sculptures by world-famous Ivan Mestrovic and other talented individuals. \nWe are pleased to inform all delegates and guests that the CFU Home Office will be open on Saturday\, September 21\, 2019\, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for tours. All CFU members should be proud of the impressive collection of history maintained by our society. \nThe weekend will continue on Saturday\, September 21\, with an evening Dinner Cruise on the EMPRESS operated by Gateway Clipper Fleet and located in Station Square on Pittsburgh’s Southside. For the very reasonable price of $50\, guests will be treated to a buffet dinner and fabulous Tamburitza entertainment from the time they arrive at the dock continuing throughout the evening cruise. We hope to soon announce the confirmation of a very special guest from Croatia who is no stranger to our membership and will entertain one and all in inimitable fashion while sailing the three rivers of Pittsburgh. \nWe are very happy to inform our membership that arrangements have been made for Holy Mass at St. Nicholas Croatian R.C. Church in Millvale\, home to the famous murals of Maxo Vanka\, on Sunday\, September 22\, at 11 a.m. CFU will provide transportation to and from Church for those delegates desiring to attend Mass. \nIn order to celebrate the historic milestone of our 125th Anniversary\, we have planned a gala banquet for Sunday afternoon and early evening. The banquet will offer worthy tribute to the powerful and positive impact that our society has had on its membership and the preservation of our Croatian Culture here in North America. It is with the utmost of pride that we report the Hon. Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic\, President of the Republic of Croatia\, has confirmed her attendance at our gala celebration. \nOnce again\, fraternalism and celebration of our Croatian culture will be prevalent throughout the Wyndham Grand as good will and tamburitza entertainment fill the air. As per past practice\, delegates will receive a complimentary ticket to the 125th Anniversary Banquet. Additional tickets may be purchased for spouses and by guests for the nominal charge of $65 and will include dinner\, a complimentary beverage and special guest entertainment during the banquet program. All members attending both the Dinner Cruise and Anniversary Banquet may obtain their two tickets for the special package price of $100.

SUMMARY:49th CFU SkiFest
DESCRIPTION:SkiFEst 2019 \nGet snow boots ready because SkiFest 2019 is right around the corner! On February 1-2\, CFU members and friends will “hit the slopes” at the snow-covered Hidden Valley Resort located in Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands. With the CFU ski and snowboard races and evening socials filled with Tamburitza music\, this is an event you will not want to miss. \nThe CFU is very fortunate to welcome a special group of tamburaši to SkiFest this year. Tamburaški Sastav KAS will be entertaining the crowds at this year’s evening socials. Many of our members may remember KAS from our 2015 Cultural Tour or the 2017 CFU TamFEST in Orlando. They are outstanding musicians\, fantastic showmen and bring the party with them every time they play. \nHidden Valley Resort is located in the Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania at 1 Craighead Drive\, Hidden Valley\, PA 15502. From skiing to snowboarding\, snow tubing to sleigh riding\, Hidden Valley has something to offer for all levels of ability. CFU members from across the US and Canada will be making their way to the snowy slopes. \nOn Friday\, February 1st\, the fun will begin with a welcoming social beginning at 8 p.m. in the Conference Center that is adjacent to the lodging. KAS will entertain as CFU members and guests unwind in the cozy warmth after the many hours spent out on the slopes. Refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the evening. \nSki/Snowboard race registration will take place Saturday\, February 2nd\, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Hallway of South Ridge Room located in the Ski Lodge. Bernadette and Megan will be registering Boys\, Girls\, Men and Women of all ages for the Snowboarding and Skiing Competition. The official ski/snowboard races will begin promptly at 2 p.m. on the Imperial Slopes. \nMake sure to keep your Saturday afternoon free to join us on the slopes at our 4th Annual “Slope-Side Social” (or as we like to call it the “Finish-Line Fešta”). The party will begin around 1:30 p.m. at the bottom of the Imperial slope. Music\, Dancing\, and Racing all gather at the bottom of our race course for a fun and festive time. We encourage all of our members and guest (of all ages and abilities) to come out with their Cowbells and whistles to cheer on our racers and enjoy the winter weather. \nSaturday evening a Tamburitza Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. in the Summit Highlands Room located in the Conference Center. Shortly after mass\, KAS will kick off the Saturday evening social/awards party with music and dancing for all to enjoy. The awards program will begin around 9:30 p.m.\, so we ask all racers to be there to see if they have won their division. \nRoom reservations can now be made by calling: 1-814-443-8000. Please specify that you are with the CFU. CFU room rates are $169 for a double bedded room and $194 for a corner suite. Please note an additional 6% occupancy tax and 3% Somerset County tax will be in addition to the standard room/suite rate. Please note that these rates are only available for a limited time and are on a first come\, first serve basis. \nFor those members hitting the slopes\, discounted lift tickets will be available for all CFU participants. Please visit Hidden Valley Lift Rates for rate information. To obtain these special rates\, please go to the Group Sales desk at the mountain lodge and mention the CFU. Discounted rates for ski/board tickets\, rentals\, and lessons are also available. Ski/Snowboard lessons are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the weekend. Now is the time to check your equipment\, sharpen your skis and make sure your helmets are ready. \nMark your calendars for February 1-2\, as it most definitely will be a very exciting weekend in the newly snow-covered mountains of Pennsylvania. Please come and celebrate with our CFU skiers\, snowboarders\, musicians\, fellow members and friends. We look forward to seeing you at SkiFest 2019!
